Positive: The house is in a residential area about ~15 minutes / ~10 miles from Pagosa. Easy to find. The house appears to be brand new. It was very well cleaned. It was well stocked with cooking utensils and appliances. King bed was comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet. The air conditioning worked very well even on a 95+ degree day. Love that it was pet friendly so we could bring our dog.
Negative: Major concern - which was rectified - when we arrived at 10:30 pm after a long drive from Denver, the access code to the door did not work. We called and texted every number provided in the email and every number on the website, but did not receive a response. It was a prime summer weekend, so the closest vacancy for another pet friendly hotel was 1.5+ hours away. Thus, we had to sleep in our car in the driveway of the house, which was unnerving and frustrating. We received a response with a working code the next morning at 6:30am. The explanation was that the owner had changed the door code without notifying the property management company. After some back and forth with the management company, they agreed to refund our stay. With this gesture, we decided to provide our review of the house by trying to “cancel out” this mistake. Other things to consider: No outdoor space / patio around the house - it’s just a house on a small lot on a hill. And the water smelled strongly of sulfur. Neither were a big deal for us, as we spent most of our time in Pagosa and we’d expect the water to be sulfur smelling in an area known for hot springs.
Summary: Nice house, 15 min from Pagosa, be sure to communicate and coordinate arrival with property management company
