Summary: Stopped off here overnight on my way along the WHW for the night. I arrived earlier than the 3pm check in time so decided to pop in for a drink, there’s no ‘public bar’ where you can walk in and order a beer so had to be shown through to the bar which operates (a very slow) table service. I only had the one pint and got up and left after sitting with an empty glass for 15 minutes or so. £6.25 ‘house’ lager is the cheapest pint but a bit steep however there was a decent local selection of drinks. The woman on the desk was quite friendly and gave me a table next to the bar (didn’t help get a drink any quicker) oddly she turned up in the breakfast room the next morning with what appeared to be pyjamas and a shower cap on so maybe she lives there. Food menu was your average run of the mill stuff. A bit overpriced in my opinion and although I never ate at lunch, the menu was the same in the evening. I had a burger which was nothing special for the price and again drink service was slow at best so I never hung about long which is a shame as the bar area is quite a nice space other than the cobwebs and jumble sale items all over the place. Upon checking in, I was allocate a room which was in a cottage further up the room from the main building. Looked ideal from the outside although felt like a trek to get to it after a long day walking. The room itself was decent with no complaints on the facilities, they’ve missed a trick not putting bath in with a shower above it though.
