Summary: The Donatello is located in a perfect spot, a block from Union Square but not on the Cablecar line, which can get noisy. The room was quite spacious and comfortable, and the staff were very cordial. It was quite pleasant as we were there for our anniversary. My one negative comment is about the checkout time, which is 10:00 am. When I checked in, I asked about a late checkout. I was advised they couldn't approve it and to call between 7-8 on the morning of the checkout. When I did that they advised "we can only extend for 30 minutes, until 10:30." I have not experienced a checkout time before 11:00 am in memory and certainly have been extended at least an hour at every other hotel I have ever requested it at, which is rare.
