Riverbend Run is located in the Marble mountain community, an unincorporated hideaway of Murphy, North Carolina that's nestled in the heart of the southern Smoky Mountains. Marble is located roughly halfway between Murphy and Andrews. Marble is perfectly situated at the confluence of the Hiwassee and Valley rivers, and is an excellent home base for exploring all that the area has to offer. Marble is roughly a 30-minute drive from the numerous dining, shopping, and outdoor recreation opportunities in Blue Ridge, Georgia. It’s easy to spend a day exploring Blue Ridge's boutiques, wineries, and shops before heading back to the peace and quiet of the Cherokee County mountains. Murphy and the Marble community showcase small town mountain life at its very best.
In 2023, the owners of Riverbend Run set out to find their very own mountain getaway, far away from the summer heat and humidity of their home base near St. Augustine, Florida. The owners fell in love with the home's incredible river views and quiet solitude. With its cool mountain breezes and the soothing sound of rushing water, Riverbend Run has proven to be a perfect place for their family to unwind and relax.
In September of 2022, we (Barrett and Roger) had the pleasure of vacationing at another home on the mountain, Misty Mountain. We came to the area to celebrate a good friend's wedding in Brasstown, North Carolina, located just down the road from Murphy. For Roger, this trip was a special homecoming, as he spent his summers as a young man working in this area. We absolutely fell in love with the town of Murphy, the locals, and this stunning mountain cabin! We made a leap of faith and reached out to the owners to inquire about caring for their lovely home. Luckily for everyone, they said, “Yes!”. Our Smoky Mountain expansion has proven to be a good move, as we partnered with the owners of The Great Escape in January 2023, and have other projects in the works.
This three-bedroom, three-bath home offers an open-concept living and dining space, a fully-equipped kitchen, an additional downstairs game room for the kiddos, a private spa, a riverfront fire pit, and a fishing dock. Riverbend Run sits on more than an acre of land, making for an uber-private getaway spot. The property is level, offering an easy walk to the river, dock, and fire pit. The yard is perfect for a friendly game of soccer or flag football. The river views, attention to detail, and location really make this mountain cabin stand out.
Riverbend Run can accommodate up to 11 guests comfortably, utilizing one king bed, two queen beds, one twin bed, and two futons. The interior living space is 1,932 square feet.
Guests do need to climb stairs to access the main floor of the home. No interior stairs are required to access the main floor's living room, dining table, kitchen, queen bedroom with ensuite, guest bedroom, or guest bath. Also on the main level is the glorious deck overlooking the river. There is a set of interior stairs leading to the downstairs guest bedroom, a full bath, the game room, and garage (which is more for owner storage). The private spa is located under the main-level deck; you can access it via the exterior stairs or via the garage.
There is a lockbox next to the main entry door. Guests will be given the access code to the lockbox prior to their arrival.
Upon entering Riverbend Run, guests are greeted by a bright living, dining, and kitchen area. This layout is perfect for enjoying time with friends and family. The living area features cozy arm chairs and leather sofas, amazing river views, a gas log fireplace, and a flat-screen smart television.
The kitchen is fully-stocked with more than the basics; pots and pans, a drip coffee pot, a K-cup coffee maker, an electric tea kettle, crockpot, blender, and ample utensils. If we have not stocked an item that is needed, please let us know. Please note that the home will occasionally have coffee, sugar, creamers, salt, pepper, other spices, and olive oil. However, we do not stock these items. If desired, we can arrange for grocery shopping and delivery prior to arrival. The kitchen dining table has seating for six, while the bar seats two. There is an additional dining table in the game room and on the deck.
The queen master bedroom with private ensuite is located on the main floor. It features a comfortable queen bed, a large dresser, two night stands, a mounted flat-screen smart television, and a closet for storing luggage. Its three-piece bath has a walk-in shower, a vanity with ample counter space, a loo, fresh linens, and travel toiletries.
The main level guest bedroom has a queen bed, a large dresser, two night stands, a mounted flat-screen smart television, and a closet for storing luggage. This bedroom also has a futon which sleeps two additional guests. It has a private ensuite, this three-piece bathroom can also be accessed from the hallway.
Down the interior staircase, guests will find our game room. This is a great place to send the teens to chill or for family game night.
There is one guest bedroom on this downstairs floor. It has a twin-over-full bunk bed, a futon, a mounted flat-screen smart television, and a closet for luggage storage. There is also a third full bath on this level. This three-piece bath has a shower/tub combo, a vanity with ample counter space, a loo, fresh linens, and travel toiletries.
There is also a full-size washer and dryer for guests to use on this floor. While we do offer a starter kit of laundry detergent, guests should always supply their own detergent for extended stays.
The private spa is located under the main-level deck and can be accessed via the exterior stairs or via the garage. Please always shower prior to entering the spa. The spa is serviced between guests. However, for extended stays we do leave a packet of shock for you to toss in the water mid-stay. Please pour in the packet and turn on the jets. Wait thirty minutes before entering.
Riverbend Run has a Weber charcoal grill. Guests are responsible for bringing all of their BBQ supplies.
A 4WD or AWD vehicle is always useful in the mountains; however, our roads are very accessible and well maintained, so 4WD or AWD is not a must-have for guests staying at Riverbed Run. Please review our House Manual for more details on access. Remember to use common sense when traveling on our curvy mountain roads.
Though you may find it hard to pull yourself away from the comfort of our gorgeous riverfront cabin, downtown Murphy is definitely a great place to explore. Guests will enjoy walking down the flower-lined streets, viewing our restored historic buildings, dining at one of many delicious local restaurants, sipping on a cold one at Buck Bald Brewing, and shopping at our unique boutiques. Guests' vehicles are the primary source of getting around. We are happy to recommend a local driver if guests prefer to book with someone directly.
