Positive: The location is fabulous for skiing at Solitude. Everything is easily accessible within a few minutes, including the Apex chairlift and Last Chance Lodge. Maintenance was quick to show up when we had issues, although it takes some run-around trying to get someone on the line from Vacasa who can help.
Negative: Our stay at this condo had potential, but the key pick-up and return process was a major inconvenience—especially if you’re not driving. To access our key fobs, we had to ask our shuttle driver to stop at the Vacasa office one mile down the canyon before arriving at Solitude. If you're arriving via an airport shuttle (like many visitors do), this setup is nearly impossible. In 2025, a more streamlined, digital check-in system should be standard. Returning the keys at checkout was just as problematic. We were instructed to drop them off at the same office by 10 AM, which doesn’t work if you’re skiing on your last day and don’t have a car. After multiple calls, we were finally allowed to leave them in the unit for the cleaners to return. We weren't given any information about where we could leave our luggage at check-out and after a lot of time spent troubleshooting on our own to figure it out, turns out there is a condo management office that will store your gear so you can ski on check-out day. That should be communicated clearly to guests. On top of that, our reservation stated we’d receive three key fobs, and the house manual plus Vacasa instructions warned of a $50 charge for missing keys. We were only given two for our group of four, which led to even more back-and-forth with Vacasa. Eventually, a maintenance person brought us the third fob—when he had to visit our unit anyway to remove a dead bird from our fireplace so we could heat the room. Speaking of the fireplace, the pilot light instructions were confusing, and when we initially called Vacasa for help, their first response was to ask us to remove the dead bird ourselves. Only after pushing back did they send maintenance. The condo itself was nice, but we spent far too much time dealing with customer service issues that could have been avoided with better management.
