This cabin in completely off grid and perfect to take a step back from the rat race, to relax and reconnect in the Maine woods. Endless amounts of things to do for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Just outside of an official Appalachian trail hiker town, you will be surrounded by trails, and beautiful mountains.
Sit by the fire at night and enjoy the non light polluted skies that show the Milky Way, and the millions of beautiful stars above you. Take a hike on the Appalachian trail, venture into the 100 mile wilderness, watch the sunset and hear the loons call out at lake Hebron, or drive 20 minutes to the largest lake in Maine, Moosehead Lake. Rent an atv and enjoy the local recreational trails or take a slow drive on the dirt roads to look for moose. Great fishing opportunity’s in every direction for some beautiful native brook trout and landlocked salmon. Anything you can think of to get closer to Mother Nature, it’s here for you to experience.
This cozy little cabin is equipped with a loft that has a full size memory foam mattress, and a futon that flattens into a bed. Blankets are provided but we recommend that you bring an extra sleeping bag or blankets because Maine weather can be unpredictable and chilly even in the summer months and the cabin is not insulated at this moment. 2 pillows are provided for the loft and 1 for the futon.
There is a fire pit with a grate for cooking, a charcoal grill on top of an outdoor table top (you provide your own charcoal and lighter fluid) a cooler you’re welcome to use, and a sitting area inside the cabin with chairs that can be taken outside also. We provide a 5 gallon water container that you’re welcome to fill and use. A lantern is provided and there are solar paneled lights outside of the cabin. There is a composting outhouse on the property and we stock the cabin with toilet paper and paper towels. If you need to wash up you’re welcome to use our 5 gallon Coleman solar shower. Feel free to enjoy some of our favorite books by our very own Maine authors.
You’re welcome to use our cut firewood on the land but some of its not seasoned yet so you may need to bring your own, there is plenty locally.
The cabin is nestled in the trees with plenty of privacy, but just off of a main road for you to access anything you may need.
The driveway was just cut out this spring and doesn’t have any gravel laid down yet. Awd suv and trucks will have no problem getting back to the cabin but 2wd low cars will struggle. If you have a low 2wd car we have a secondary parking area we can direct you to, but you will have to walk 200 yards back to the cabin site.
We strive to keep our land in its natural form, so whatever you bring in (that won’t burn in the fire pit) we kindly ask that you take it out as we don’t have a garbage or can system set up. Also, please take in consideration that we try to protect our dark skies, so there is minimal solar lighting around the cabin. Headlamps and flash lights to see your way around at night are highly recommended.
