Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: This place is out of category. It gives you a super authentic feel and experience. Choices of onses/baths is wonderful and although the smaller ones that are available 24/7 are not super big and only partially outside they provide all you need for a good soak. The bigger open/outside bath is gorgeous and I can only imagine how exquisite that would be on a cold autumn day! The service is impeccable, personable and all around fantastic. The place is a short drive outside of the village (which makes it really tranquil) but the free shuttle service remedies that. The food is exquisite and provides a wonderful cross section of the Japanese kitchen. Both the breakfast and dinner were absolute highlights and if a bit much (but we are not complaining!) and the village provides a nice touristic stroll. The house we stayed in was delightful and I loved the tatami mats and all the other nice touches which again give it such an authentic feel. The private in-house bath and onsen is a nice touch as well. Neve been to a place with so many different soaking options!

Negative: If there is one thing one to mention is that with that authenticity comes also the only drawback I can give to this place. The beds but certainly the chairs are not made for comfort.
