Summary: The location of the hotel on the ghats is excellent - though be aware that the atmosphere can be smoky at times as the cremation grounds are not far away. I got absolutely what I paid for. Staff were helpful at all times and food in the restaurant is both good and reasonably priced. Why four rather than five stars? No hot water for half of my stay - and decor is a tad tired and almost gloomy. This was evidently the fashion at some point - as my (considerably worse) Delhi hotel was similar. I was a solo older female traveller and never felt unsafe or unduly pressurised.
