Best kept secret! Rat Root River is a beautiful river with no tourists no locals much either but amazing crappie fishing suckers run when the frogs begin to croak in spring. Don’t let the name discourage you Rat is named after the curious adorable muskrat and Root is derived from the root of the cattail that’s edible when boiled and it is abundant along the ride to navigate to Rainy Lake ! Bring a canoe try wild ricing or go search for morels in the early spring and asparagus etc! Harvest chaga come winter. Create your very own adventure!
