Adorable Rustic Cottage Lake Superior | Cottage in Marquette

2 Bedroom Cottage in Upper Peninsula Michigan, Marquette
We are open for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing. Directly off the back of our property is connection to all the great trails the UP has to offer. North Country trail takes you far West or East as far as you want to go. You can hit the casinos for a warm-up fun time. Our parking allows for several trailers. We do not provide any of the equipment.
You can take the machines to visit the ice caves Mother Nature creates in winter. Our property connects you to the best trails in the area. You can ride down to Munising to the casino in Christmas, also heading towards Marquette in 7 mile you can go to the very nice newly renovated Ojibwa Casino.
Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are another option from the camp. National forest surrounds us and goes East & West for many of miles. The famous North Country trail is the best off all the trails, and easy access from our property. I’ll have further updates on the progress of getting better winter heat source at the camp. Widening the short trail of our property for snowmobiles, as it got overgrown from no winter activity in years.
are adhering to the guidelines for sanitizing the cottage and patio furniture before guest arrivals. We're taking the Covid-19 seriously. Housekeeping is going to have a diligent disinfecting cleaning regiment; with a complete disinfecting wipe down of doorknobs, furniture, tables, outdoor furniture tv remotes, and anything that would need to be considered. There will be provided hand sanitizer and sanitizer wipes for guest to use to wipe down anything they are concerned with. I want guests to feel confident that the cottage is cleaned properly to deal with this virus. The Upper Peninsula is a remote area and doesn't have a large dense population, so I'm confident it's a place that will have limited concerns with this pandemic.
Sincerely,
Lori Rietman

The cottage is in a perfect location. From the cabin on Hwy M28, it takes you along Lake Superior, Between Marquette and Munising
Lake Superior is across M28 at the end of our driveway. Approx. 100-yard short walk. Access to the beach is a bit of a climb due to erosion and record high water level, there is a public stairway to the beach is a short walking distance (200 yards) from our property for easy beach access. Our place is set back in the woods and surrounded by State Forest. Trails behind the property for hiking. There is a large patio with plenty of outdoor furniture, grill and even a 3-person swing. Our cottage sits on .75 acres and has a nice hammock swing between trees, a horseshoe pit, and plenty of room for games. We have a travel trailer on adjacent property that I use when I'm there, and it's a separate .75 acres. It's situated for privacy at the cottage. I'm not always there as our main home is in TN. We did try renting it during the summer but have discontinued that. Depending on the dates it may be available for larger group such as a family reunion, or just larger group in general. inquiry recommended.
Sauna anyone, enjoy our traditional Finnish barrel sauna. We provide the firewood for the sauna ONLY. Bring firewood for the outdoor patio.
The cabin is filled with everything you'll need to feel right at home.

* Trails are directly off the back of our property. They connect to other trails for hiking, mountain bikes, and blueberry picking
Off Hwy M28 are:
* Lake Superior-public deck and stairway is a short 3-minute walk from our driveway. The shoreline across from our property has large rocks to protect from erosion. We still go down that way, but for those who aren’t able the stairway makes it easy to access to the beach.
Heading West

I have Brochures on all activities, sightseeing, and some of the best restaurants menus
Below I’ve made descriptive highlight of day long excursions that are the best of Upper Michigan
Further east of Munising Are little gems towns like the historic town of Grand Maria, and the famous sand dunes (Log Slide Overlook). Remember going down this dune is fun but a bugger going back up. Nearby is White Fish Point lighthouse and museum, which provides history of famous shipwrecks, including the Edmund Fitzgerald that sunk in that area during a fierce November storm in 1975. Close by the museum is Tequanimum Falls State Park. The park offers walking trails, a gorgeous waterfall, and a microbrew restaurant to relax at during your visit.
I highly recommend a driving trip up the northwest shore of Marquette County, highway 550. It leads to public trails such as Sugar Loaf lookout, little Presque Isle Park, and Harlow Lake. Continue up to the historic town of Big Bay. This town is filled with so much history. The Big Bay Hotel was the place that a famous murder took place in 1952 and was the same site Jimmy Stewart stared in the movie "Anatomy of a Murder". The hotel has a nice cafe and museum dedicated to the the movie, and another famous guest Henry Ford. The prestigious Huron Mountain Club is located in this same region but is exclusive to members only. Look up "the secrets of Huron Mountain Club" for the rich history of this truly primitive location, and its world-famous members. Henry ford was a member of this club, and he also had a mill factory here that produced the wood panels for the ford vehicles. You can see the abandoned mill from the hotel. Just past the hotel 550 turns in to a dirt road that ends at the Big Bay Lighthouse. It's a B&B now, but you can still tour the grounds and gardens. I tried to provide highlights of this area. It has so much more to offer than mentioned. During the Fall season it has spectacular colors to enjoy, and the cabin is open through October.
